Conserving Angkor

The Angkor World Heritage Site is of outstanding value to humanity and part of Cambodia's cultural identity. Angkor represents an extraordinary period in human history and is a sacred, lived-in landscape.

This web site is an APSARA National Authority initiative designed to enhance visitor experience and appreciation of Angkor while ensuring its conservation for future generations.

The Sunset Finder is a pilot project arising from the Tourism Management Plan, prepared as part of the Angkor Heritage Management framework which is supported by the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Australian Government and UNESCO. The project has been undertaken by Australian consultants GML, working collaboratively with the APSARA National Authority.

By promoting the diverse and wonderful sunset experiences at Angkor, this project aims to spread visitor load across the park, provide benefits to local communities and offer new attractive opportunities for visitors.

About Sunsets in the Angkor Park

This web site explores the World Heritage site of Angkor through one of its most spectacular pastimes — watching the sun go down. Here you'll find key information such as likely crowd turnouts, transport options and ambiance so you can choose the sunset experience that is best for you.

From watching the sunset with a group of friends over the West Baray to an intimate dusk gondola ride on the moat of Angkor Thom, Angkor caters to every taste, budget and age group.
